Journalism’s Dunkin Field Trip
On Friday, April 24, Dunkin’ on Northside Parkway held their grand opening. It is a drive-thru location, positioned directly next to the drive-thru Starbucks, just a short walk from Galloway’s Northside campus. In order to review this new food and coffee option for students, our Journalism class we took a trip to the new Dunkin Donuts. We tested a variety of different flavors, and everybody seemed to have a different experience. Brooke Ryan, a junior said, “maple donut is a classic; it hits different in autumn, but it’s always good”. However, she did say how she likes sprinkles and she wishes the maple donut had it. Additionally , multiple people said the donut was sitting out there for so long that it tasted kind of stale. Sydney stated how people should show up earlier because the donuts would be softer and more fresh. Even though walking to Dunkin was fun, 6 out of the 9 people said how their donuts were stale.
The price of the donuts were very cheap, which made up for them being stale. The average price of each donut was $1.36 cents, which is a great deal considering the amount of inflation recently. Nearly everybody said the inside was uncomfortably small. It seemed like a balance where the builders at Dunkin tried to make it a comfortable place to sit down and eat your donuts. However, with so many kids, there weren’t nearly enough seats and it seemed a bit claustrophobic. Considering that we had to wait around for a long time for the drinks that people got, the environment could’ve been better. Hearing what Henry Ramsey said about his experience seemed to be different from what I read from others, “The service was slow. I was also given the wrong drink order”. He did say how he gave back the drink and they gave him a new one, but the hassle proved to be an annoying experience. Besides Henry, many people seemed to enjoy their drinks, and Brooke said, “The refresher is new and it's really good too, it's a mix between the classic strawberry with a little bit of a sharper taste from the berry acai”. I also enjoyed my drink, and I enjoyed this experience.
