Excursion is such an integral part of the history of Galloway and always something that students look forward to in the spring, in that case it is a huge deal that the 2026 Excursion catalog has been released. This year's excursion is much different than how it has been in the previous years. The application portion has been expedited, with seniors and juniors being sent the form before underclassmen and having till October 28th to complete it. Sophomores and freshmen have until October 30th, however their form is given on the 29th. The new application process was implemented so upperclassmen can get their preferences reviewed before and to not give underclassmen any false hope that they will get international trips.
Ms. Crowell, a teacher at Galloway for eight years, is teaching and chaperoning the “Mangia, Italian Food & Culture” excursion taking place in Rome, Naples, and the Amalfi Coast in Italy; she shared that she is “excited to experience new places along with my students.” Lana Hirsh, a senior, stated, “I appreciate the variety of international excursions and the topics that they cover.” The international destinations include Italy, Peru, Costa Rica, Canada, and Spain. Usually, underclassmen don't get chosen for international excursions over upperclassmen, though attendance and behavior do play a role. Josh Rubensohn, a freshman and a writer for The Elliot said, “Even though I'm not going international, I'm excited to get a break from school and learn more about what Galloway's about.” Ms. Jimenez is chaperoning the Peru trip, “Peru and Machu Picchu have always been on my bucket list, and I think it's gonna be super special because my birthday will be during an excursion, it will be extra special and magical!”
Ultimately, Excursion is a fun experience that brings the Galloway community together. Every trip has a special meaning, different possibilities, and things to learn about within it, not just based on it being international or not. Excursion is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and a special experience unique to The Galloway School.
