The Reason Behind No More Lunch On the Green
An email was sent last week from Mallory Ward to the student body about no more lunch on the Green. This email was upsetting to many students, but there was a reason it was sent.
Mallory received a text from an administrator in ML, about more trash left on the picnic benches by the basketball court. She said she had received “tons of emails” before this incident from the administrators and she was sick of it. Mrs. Armstrong even sent her an email saying how she and a 6th-grade student cleaned up the trash. Every email she received always started with the same sentence: “I hate to tell you this but...”
She already sent an email and made an announcement about the trash on the Green and to pick it up. She felt like she was getting ignored and that the only way to keep that area clean was to remove the students from the area.
Mallory plans to be walking over there every day during lunch and making sure no UL students are over there. She has also allowed ML teachers to tell the UL students that they have to go back to UL during lunchtime.
If students can prove that we can clean up after ourselves, Mallory will happily allow UL students to eat on the Green again. She wants to get rid of the policy as soon as possible. As a community, we need to clean up and maintain our beautiful space.
