The Best Meal at Flik
From arguments over the worst meals to debating why certain foods are paired with others, FLIK is consistently a controversial conversation topic among students. Some are avid about the mac-n-cheese, the chicken tikka masala, and the pizza, while others prefer to complain. Some people simply make sandwiches or grab salads every day instead of waiting in the daunting entree line. However, the meal that is truly the most consistent, reliable, and tasty is the cheese ravioli. While the popular favorite is likely the chicken tikka masala, I feel as though the quality of it has dropped off since early last year, and it is not quite as good as it was in the past. However, unlike the other meals popular among students, the cheese ravioli is never overcooked, undercooked, or a little off. The creamy cheese inside the soft shell, topped with tangy tomato sauce is a restaurant-quality dish. In my previous five years eating FLIK, there had been no meal that was clearly better than the others. However, last year, the ravioli clearly emerged as a top-quality meal, and due to the quality of the ravioli, a meal they should introduce is spicy grilled chicken.
Due to their requirements to serve hundreds of students, FLIK is typically unable to serve anything too spicy or overly seasoned because they want to ensure that everybody likes the meals. However, if they introduced a spicier option once in a while, such as grilled chicken, possibly served with rice, it could be a success. With this, maybe they could add a tortilla soup to accompany the entree. Adding a meal that’s a little bit different would improve the rotation of meals and spice things up every once in a while. Even if it doesn’t end up being a success, I don’t think it can hurt to try. Despite the complaints that some kids have, overall FLIK is satisfactory, especially the ravioli, and I would like to see this new meal possibly implemented in the future.
