New Changes of The Year
With the new school year comes not only new students, but also new staff, and new changes all around UL, so let’s check them out:
Starting off with what’s new with the West Wing hallway. Walking in from the porch, on your left will be a new green accent wall with “West Wing” labeled on it. This way you won’t ever get confused about which hallway you're in! On the opposite end of the hallway, there is a whiteboard for us to express our creativity. Across from the whiteboard, there is a quote by our founder, Elliott Galloway, “Find out about who you are and become that person.” This is posted to always remind us to strive to be the best we can be. The office changes in this hallway include Ms. Lloyd (our new UL assistant principal), who can be found in the office next to the stairway that leads to the math hall. And Mr. Foreman’s new office is located where the old college admissions office used to be. Although we don’t see him as much as we used to, he is still close to all of us.
Moving onto the East Wing, there are many parallels to the West Wing. Another Elliott Galloway quote is displayed on the wall, “Our goal is to help each of you achieve a superior education, a reasoned understanding, and acceptance of yourself, and the willingness, maturity, and self-discipline to manage your own learning now and throughout your life.” This reminds us that we have responsibility for our own learning. Ms. McCrary’s (our new UL principal) office is where the old teacher lounge used to be, across from the new teacher lounge that replaced Beth Wilson and Mallory Ward’s old office.
The library has taken on a new look as well. There are more tables, couches, and book displays. The new librarian, Chelsea Larson, gave the library a much-needed “glow up.” And we all appreciate the music she plays as well - it livens up the space.
Lastly, there have been numerous changes in the Gresham area between the East and West Wing hallways. Ann Fountain has relocated to Ms. McCrary’s old office. The teacher lounge is in Beth Wilson and Mallory Ward’s old office, Mallory Ward is now the Student Life Coordinator and has relocated to Ms. Bullard’s old office in the math hallway. Ms. Bullard is now in Allyson Maebert’s (admissions) old office, and Bayless Fleming has shifted from Director of Admissions to Director of Galloway Horizons Program and Enrollment Management Advisor. David Long has moved to the former Minority Counselor’s office and is now the Assistant Head of School, and Mr. Z is in Mr. Foreman’s old office.
With all of the new exciting changes around UL, I can tell it’s going to be a great year!
