Bridgerton Season 2

Is it terribly amiss of me to share my reflections on the most recent season, as this may spoil the season for even some of the most esteemed guests? I pray you, loyal readers, will forgive me, as it is just too marvelous not to blow the gaff on.

Dearest Readers,

The ton was abuzz as Bridgerton Season 2 made its debut into high society on the 25th of March. Whilst it appears that this season will not be quite the same as the last, perhaps it will be somewhat saved by the devilishly handsome rake, Viscount Bridgerton, and his announcement that he is, at last, in search of a wife. Fear not, dear reader, as I swear with my utmost being to delve into the tumultuous scandal that ensued. A slow-burn love story for Lord Bridgerton to be sure.

The return of the Sharmas, who moved to India after the disgraceful marriage for Lady Mary Sharma, seems to be quite the start of the season as her youngest, Miss Edwina, was named by Her Majesty as the Diamond of the First Water for the season. However, The Queen seems to be mixed in her opinions as of late, especially as her Diamond left Lord Bridgerton at the altar. Are we to uncover anything else about our beloved Queen as the season ensues? We will have to wait and see. However, perhaps it isn’t a lack of judgment on the Queen’s part, but rather the obvious love between the eldest Sharma and her sister’s betrothed, Lord Bridgerton. All of this has caused quite a stir in the ton. With the Viscount saving Miss Sharma after her horrible fall, I dare say that the two have become enamored with one another. Hopefully, nothing disgraceful has happened between them, as I haven’t yet seen a ring on Miss Sharma’s finger.

The Bridgerton family seems quite the talk of the town, not only for the broken engagement, but for Miss Eloise, the second eldest daughter of the family, who was scandalously seen enjoying mixed company, unchaperoned that is. However, this writer finds her intelligent insights to be quite discerning, whereas it is obvious that the rest of our dear ton seems to find her frivolous and impertinent. Including Her Majesty, the Queen, who is certainly not lacking in her opinion of this young miss, especially after believing her to be Lady Whistledown. And the two other elder Bridgerton men seem to be not far from the most delightful of events. Our dear Colin Bridgerton has apparently been to visit his previous betrothed, Lady Crane. After their betrothal broke due to Lady Crane being with child, a child that couldn’t have been Mr. Bridgerton’s, we must wonder if the young traveler has really had enough space and time to clear his head of her? His elder brother too, after getting into the Royal Arts Academy, seems to be focusing quite a bit on the models and their many… talents.

Perhaps though, the Featherington family should be the one under scrutiny as the new Lord Featherington brings incomparable stories of the Americas and his mines there. Though this author isn’t quite sure what to believe as his most delightful ruby necklaces appear to be false. And to add to it, it seems as though Miss Prudence, after the marriage of her younger sister Phillipa to Lord Finch, has been far more eager to be wed. After the scandal of a proposed disgracing of Miss Prudence by the new Lord Featherington, her cousin if I must add, it seems as though the Featheringtons have yet another wedding to prepare for. As too, does her mama seem eager for a wedding for if anyone had noticed the fleeting glances and stolen, secret meetings between her and her daughter’s fiance, they might have seen it for what it clearly is, love and lust. And the youngest, Miss Penelope, continues to seem quite smitten with her best friends’ older brother, Colin Bridgerton. Though after her comments in Lady Whistledown (gasp), I must wonder if they truly remain best friends.

Do not fret gentle readers, this writer has her own opinions of the season.

While it is quite a thrill to see the Sharma women back in town after the disgrace of one Lady Mary, the Sheffields do not yet seem content with the marriage of their daughter to her late husband who was not of status. In quite a twist of riveting events, we have seen our dear Lord Bridgerton stand up for his betrothed even after her family is seemingly using and betraying him. I must say that I, for one, find the change in his character to be quite… intriguing, in more polite terms. As for the rest of the Viscount’s actions this season, I do believe that he should be considering a break from his own personal pity party for a moment. Maybe he should take a risk with the elder Miss Sharma? In an infuriating slow-burn love that rivals last season’s Duke and, now Duchess, of Hastings, Miss Daphne Bridgerton. Yet this author finds it quite infuriating that the two wouldn’t simply admit to their obviously shared attraction to one another, especially after Miss Edwina herself uncovered their disgraceful scandal at the altar. Quite an event indubitably. However, after her accident, Miss Sharma and the Viscount seem to be moving it along. I quite hope the two enjoyed their honeymoon, and can’t wait to see what they bring to the world in the following months. Rumour has it that the Queen may be setting her Diamond up with her nephew, the Prince. Maybe this time, her Diamond won’t beat Her Majesty's cruel game of love. But if she does, do trust that I will report. Never fear esteemed readers, I will be back again.

Yours Truly,

Lady Galloway
