Happy Valentine’s Day, Scots! The writers of The Elliott are excited to bring to you this special spread highlighting couples that met within the four walls of our own Upper Learning building and are now, years later, still together.
Stacey Brand Ostervold ‘89 & Eddie Ostervold ‘89
Eddie and Stacey met at Galloway when they were 15 years old. They were friends for a long time before they started dating six years after college. They were married in 1999 and traveled through the Caribbean for a short time, then moved to St. Simons Island. Later they had twins, Lars and Sophia, who are now 14. They are back in Atlanta and loving life! If there is one thing they do well in their marriage, it would be laughing.
Patricia Ghegan Keaten ‘90 & Caeder Keaton ‘90
Caeder ‘88 and Patricia Keaten ’90 had their first date in Atlanta on Patricia’s 21st birthday. They dated for five years before getting married in 1998, where five Galloway grads stood up at the ceremony. They have three kids – Lila, Annabel, and Harry – all current Galloway students!
Jennifer Yu Hardy ’99 & Brent Hardy ‘99
Brent and Jennifer met when Brent started Galloway in the middle of 7th grade. They started dating after their freshman year of college when he was at University of Illinois and she was at Georgia Tech. They got married June 11, 2005. They had their son, Harrison, in March of 2017, and he is currently a kindergarten student here at Galloway.
Hope Brewer Ruiz ‘08 & Peter Ruiz ‘08
Peter started at Galloway in the 6th grade but didn’t meet Hope until she came to Galloway in the 9th grade. They were never very close (some may even say they were enemies) until senior year of high school when they started dating. They graduated from Galloway in 2008 and got engaged in 2013 but waited until Hope was out of graduate school to get married on September 26th, 2015. Peter works at an investment bank, and Hope is a social worker. They had their first child, Lucy, in 2019.
Megan Smith Goldwasser ’12 & Max Goldwasser ‘12
Max and Megan met when Megan transferred to Galloway their junior year of high school (2010). Their first date was her first week of school, and they've been together ever since! Now they live in Virginia Beach, Virginia where Max recently wrapped up a career in the Navy and where Megan is a writer. They got married in the Courtyard here at school in May 2017 and welcomed a daughter, Murphy, in 2019.
