Galloway Teams Update: 11/7-11/13

The Second week of the Winter Season, 11/07-11/13, did not disappoint. With Basketball starting up and Swim continuing their season, the return of winter sports is fully back. 

The Galloway Debate Team competed this past week. Margaret Edmonds and Diya Guandapali were co-champions of the meet. Emerson Waller and Jake Isenberg placed fourth in the meet. With Diya placing fifth overall and Margaret placing ninth overall. Great job to the debate team!

The Galloway Swim Team placed third overall in their recent meet. Dylan Reiser (‘25) finished second in his event with an impressive time of 1:08.79 in the 100 yard Breast. Henry Ramsey (‘28) placed first in the Junior Varsity 100 yard Free. Great job to the Scots Swimmers!

The Varsity Boys Basketball Team kicked off their season with a scrimmage against TSF on 11/08, this unofficial game led to the teams first win of the year! It was a convincing victory where the Scots came out strong with a twelve point win, 55-43. The team is led by guard Amir Arrington (‘23), he pushed the Scots to the win with a strong 17 points, 9 rebounds, 7 assists, and 6 steals. Another notable contribution came from forward Fielden Winn (‘24) with 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 1 block. Aden Aponte (‘26) also made his varsity debut with 12 points and 1 steal. To back up their strong win, the Scots matched up against ACA over the weekend. This was an impressive show of talent by the whole roster. Amir Arrington once again showed skill and precision as he finished the night with 22 points, 9 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 assists. Aden Aponte had a great game with 21 points, 4 rebounds and shot 71% from beyond the arc. Ryan Levin (‘25) also played well with 14 points and 5 steals. The team won with ease 71-34. The Scots are looking to have a successful season.

The Varsity Girls Basketball Team also had a hot start to their season, winning their first home scrimmage of the year against the reigning state champs! They played on 11/10 at home. Led by Tianna Thompson’s (‘24) 24 points and 4 assists, Kyla Cain’s (‘23) 16 points and 7 rebounds, and Kailyn Fields’ (‘23) 11 points and 4 assists, the Galloway Scots won 66-61. This early streak was carried forward by their 61-24 victory against Dutchtown on Saturday. Tianna Thompson and Kyla Cain had impressive performances once again, combining for 34 of the team's points. Allison Hoffmann (‘23) also finished the game with 9 points and 3 steals. Danaya Stokes (‘24) had a great game with 10 points and 10 rebounds. The team has started off hot and are looking to push for a state title this season. Great job and good luck!

The Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Team won their first home game against ACA! Jb Clark (‘25) and Daniel Meza (‘26) led the team in scoring and showed prowess on the court.
