Basketball Player Karl-Anthony Towns' Loss Due to Coronavirus

On March 25, 2020, Karl-Anthony Towns, a superstar for the Minnesota Timberwolves, broadcast a video announcing that his mother, Jacqueline, had tested positive for Coronavirus, and that she was in a medically-induced coma at the time. After a long and lengthy battle, unfortunately, Jacqueline succumbed to the virus on April 13, 2020, as the Timberwolves organization officially announced on the day of her passing. Her son, Karl-Anthony Towns, has not yet spoken publicly on the matter.

Many giants around the basketball world reached out to express their condolences to Towns and his family. Some of these names include his former college coach at Kentucky, John Calipari, his fellow Kentucky alumni and NBA All-Star, John Wall, 2-time MVP and 3-time Champion, Stephen Curry, and even one of his biggest rivals Joel Embiiid.

It’s very encouraging to see all of these people come out and support Towns, despite any past feuds that they may have had with him on the court. It reinforces the idea that the only way to overcome this pandemic is by uniting and supporting one another, even if we may have disagreed or even had hard feelings between each other in the past. It's a wake-up call to people that there are bigger things in life to worry about and focus on than mild arguments or disagreements.

My condolences go out to Karl-Anthony Towns, and the other family and friends of Jacqueline Cruz.
