In early August, Popeyes released their chicken sandwich, a $65 million marketing win. The crispy and juicy chicken sits between two pillowy brioche buns and is smeared with a creamy, well-seasoned, and spicy mayonnaise and topped with two pickle chips. People have been going crazy over this outstanding chicken sandwich; the lines are out the door, the sandwich has sold out on multiple occasions, and a man was even stabbed and killed for cutting someone in line.

People are so obsessed with this sandwich that things are getting out of hand. On November 4, 2019, a 28-year-old, Kevin Tyrell, was stabbed to death around 7 p.m. at a Popeyes in Maryland. He was killed for cutting a line of customers who were also ordering the sandwich. The murderer escaped after stabbing Tyrell, but the authorities are looking for an unidentified man.

Each Popeyes restaurant has been selling around 1,000 chicken sandwiches per day. When the chicken sandwich sold out, people brought their own buns from home and bought chicken tenders to try and make it. If you have not tried the chicken sandwich yet, you should go and try it now. You can determine if the sandwich and lines are worth the buzz it has been getting!
