Hype for Galloway Games
The Galloway Games are coming up and they are going to be the best games ever. They are going to be so much fun because you can compete to win with your team. You can also hang out with your friends. UL will like the games because there will be so many things to do, but EL and ML will enjoy them too! EL and ML kids are excited for the games because it is a great bonding experience, and it's amazing school spirit. I asked Freshman Annie Levy what she thought of the games, and she said, “Last year was cold, but it was so much fun, and I cannot wait for this year.”
UL Assistant Principal Beth Wilson, a team of UL students, and many others planned Galloway Games and would love if you come. Galloway Games started when Mr. Griffith came three years ago, and they are team bonding games for the entire school. An assigned team of twelve people go are represented by different colors. The teams are made up randomly, but every grade level is represented on the team. Teams go throughout the day and collect points by going to different stations and completinging them.
This year is the third ever Galloway Games, and last year Yellow won, but the games were close. A team can earn points by bonding, having team spirit, showing leadership, and winning games. The team with the most points at the end of the day wins. While a lot of the specific activities this year are new and secret, I do know that the stations used to be assigned, but now you can go anywhere you want. You can decide where you go by the level of points that the group leader has. Plus, this year there are more than 60 stations for people to decide to go to.
There were a lot of claims that there were cheating last year, so this year they have implemented new rules and made it really hard to cheat. This is a great time for you to get to know younger students and bond with them. Not only does it mean a lot for them, but this is a great way for people to make strong connections. There are four different bigger teams with four different colors. Silver, White, Yellow, and Blue are the four colors. At the end of the Galloway Games everyone gets a t-shirt to represent their color. Have fun, and good luck!
