Three Dollar Cafe

The Three Dollar Cafe, is a sports bar in Atlanta, Georgia, that has been open since 1983. It has 10 locations throughout the Greater Metro Atlanta; however, one of their more popular locations in Chastain Park has now moved locations after nearly two decades. The new location is across the street from the old location near a CVS and apartment complexes. There have been mixed reviews about the new location, Sophomore Ella Fast said, “It is really busy, but the parking is really hard. It is a much better space”. 

The owner of The Three Dollar Cafe, Kelly Woo, told ToNeToATL, “We are excited to be moving the Chastain location just across the street, to ensure and protect our ability to remain a long term local dining and gathering spot serving this community, as well as our growing customer base.” The new location serves as a nicer place and larger atmosphere for customers, with their rapidly expanding customer base. It is also placed right next to a large apartment complex, which will serve as an easy restaurant choice for those  living in the area. 

The name of the restaurant came from the founder Kelly Woo, who first immigrated to America in 1979 where he had just three dollars in his pocket. After immigrating from South Korea, he had hopes of a better life. Woo has retired, but Joseph Woo, his son, has taken over being the owner. Prior to the move, customers said that the Three Dollar Cafe was “A nice casual atmosphere. [with] reasonable prices.” After moving, one Yelp reviewer said they, “Love the new space! The food was always good and the service was great.” These reviews show how even after moving, the restaurant has stayed as an affordable place with a nice atmosphere and good service. 

The Three Dollar Cafe menu has also stayed relatively the same according to Joseph Woo saying, “It’s hard for us to change our menu now[...]. Probably 80% of the menu is the same, because we’ve been around so long.” Since the restaurant has kept the menu the same for so long, it keeps guests coming back. They also go to The Three Dollar Cafe for their large portions, which allows guests to get a big meal for a relatively cheap price.
