Bruno Mars "The Romantic Tour"
Bruno Mars was just in Atlanta on his The Romantic tour, where he played two nights, April 25th and 26th, at the Bobby Dodd Stadium at Hyundai Field. This stop was only his 5th city on his worldwide tour, but already the performance is proving to be an amazing experience for thousands of fans. His first time in nearly 10 years, this energetic and charged performance was the only apology fans needed after his long hiatus. The show was a little over two hours long, not including his opening act, DJ Pee. Wee and Leon Thomas.
My parents bought 6 floor tickets the day Atlanta tickets went on sale, beyond excited to see Mr. Mars in concert. My dad planned to sell two of them, but then forgot to do so. My sister and I each got to bring a friend. Going to the concert with one of my best friends was definitely a personal highlight and, personally, made the night more fun. We got to the stadium around the middle of the second opener, Leon Thomas. While hectic, getting through the stadium was relatively smooth, and the line for merchandise was extremely short. As in, I went up to the register immediately–no line! Which, if I’m being honest, might be a first for any concert I’ve ever been to. The seats and view were amazing, my only complaint being that the chairs felt a little jammed together. Before his entrance, there was a “love camera” of sorts up, as fans from the crowd could submit selfies with small captions to be projected onto the stage. Perhaps they decided to let fans submit photos instead of the usual kiss-cam after the notorious Coldplay incident! It was an adorable feature to include, and getting to see the young and old couples, the best friends, and the families all in the audience was a cute aspect to include. One of the things that shocked me the most was the diversity in every aspect at the concert. Just about every age, gender, and ethnicity was in the crowd. Bruno Mars is a man for everyone!
Regarding the performance and setlist, it was a perfect blend of the old and the new. Mars kept to his usual style in clothing and dancing, nothing too crazy but definitely “his” style. The setlist contained songs across all of his albums, catering to the old, new, and lifelong fans in the audience! From the props to the music itself to the visuals, everything was amazing, and it was hard to absorb everything at once.
Mars did not disappoint, and I think it is safe to say every fan left the stadium beaming with joy and humming along to Dance With Me.
