Excursion Recap Colorado: Joshua Rubensohn

An excursion is defined as a deviation from a regular path or pattern, and every late February, our school proves why that deviation is needed. For two weeks, classrooms are traded for real world experiences which can range from jogging the BeltLine to stepping foot inside the Coliseum. Each trip leads somewhere different and offers every student an unforgettable experience, but we often don’t hear those stories or multiples from every excursion. Until now, in this first fully collaborative article, students will share their individual experiences and reflect on what they have learned.

Colorado: Joshua Rubensohn

On the Colorado excursion, we visited four different cities, including Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins in Colorado and Cheyenne, within the borders of Wyoming. In our excursion, we covered renewable energy and visited different college campuses and sites such as the Boulder, Colorado Energy Lab, Colorado State Energy Campus, and the Cheyenne, Wyoming Data Center. We learned about renewable energy, and about predicting weather forecasts. On the first day, we went to the mineral hot springs following our arrival in Denver and they taught us about geothermal energy. Along with this, we enjoyed some free time where students would tend to hang out throughout the hotel. Additionally, we went bowling at Chippers Bowling Alley, the Denver Aquarium, and we also hiked a mountain in Fort Collins. We were accompanied by Ms. Sanders and Mr. Cooper, who were great chaperones and made this trip extremely enjoyable.
