Senior Assassin at Galloway
This March and April Senior Assassin has taken over the senior class at Galloway, and it has induced anxiety amongst the entire senior class. With a prize pool of around $600, almost every senior who entered the competition is determined to win. But what exactly is Senior Assassin? Senior Assassin is a trend that has emerged across high schools all across America in recent years. It’s a game where members of the senior class compete to shoot each other with water guns outside of school grounds, and the last person standing is crowned the winner, and wins the cash prize. As expected it has led to tension, betrayal, and controversy in the senior class as people are willing to go very far to win the $600 prize pool. This is the second year at Galloway where Senior Assassin has been posted online; last year the winner was Eden Foster (24).
Despite the basis of Senior Assassin being quite simple – a bunch of people shooting each other with water guns, and the last person standing wins – there are plenty of rules. As of April 17th, thirteen days before the tournament ends on April 28th, there have been five rounds. So far, students are randomly assigned a target to eliminate or shoot with a water gun. In addition, students have been allowed to wear either floaties or pool goggles; these items give students immunity and would allow students to remain in the game after they had been shot. There are also revive and shield items which can be found on Splashin (the app where players keep track of the game) which also help students stay in the game. In addition, in the earlier rounds students are able to buy back into the tournament after they are eliminated which further lifted the prize pool and further encouraged students to win. So despite the premise being quite simple, there’s plenty of rules that complicate the games even further.
On April 13th the tournament took off because the Purge was activated. During the Purge, all immunity items were deactivated and people could eliminate people that weren’t their targets. This led to twelve people being eliminated, the most eliminations in a day, destroying the previous record. This purge caused complete shock as students were eliminated in some of the most crazy manners. Some students were eliminated while playing pickleball, a student was eliminated during a fancy birthday dinner, and no matter when or where, no one was safe. There will likely be more Purge days during Senior Assassin to help further cut down the number of participants in the game.
All of the Senior Assassins at Galloway have been tracked on the “tgs_seniorassassin2025” Instagram account which has amassed 180 followers with students across all grade levels following the competition. On this account run by Hampton Walker, who volunteered to run the account, all the eliminations, new rounds rules, and just any updates involving the game are posted. The elimination videos posted are simply amazing, as viewers see all the different emotions of people who realize they have been betrayed by their peers, as they lose their chance at almost $600. However, there has been some controversy revolving around the Instagram account. There have been a few instances where contestants in Senior Assassin have taken advantage of Hampton’s kindness to help run the game. Many contestants have argued about eliminations, and have been pretty petty with Hampton in debating whether or not they got their eliminations. Senior Assassin is an incredibly fun game for all contestants, and with the $600 the tensions will be high, but students must remain respectful.
