Girls Basketball Season Review

The Galloway Scots girls' basketball team wrapped up an incredible season with an impressive 20-9 overall record and a dominant 11-1 finish in region play. Under the guidance of Coach Keisha Brown, the Scots established themselves as one of the top teams in the state, making a deep playoff run that ended in the Final Four. The Scots’ postseason journey was marked by grit and determination, but their season came to an end with a tough loss to Hebron Christian in the state semifinals. Despite the disappointment, the Scots' performance this season was nothing short of remarkable.

A major driving force behind the team’s success was Taryn Thompson, who led the Scots in scoring and provided consistent offensive firepower throughout the season. Thompson’s ability to step up in big moments for herself and her teammates contributed greatly to the deep run they made. Additionally, Seniors Eliana Diaz-Williamson and Danaya Stokes played major roles in the team’s success, providing consistent scoring. As seniors, they were the leaders of the team, and their presence will surely be missed next season.

The team’s success reflects the countless hours of hard work and dedication that the team put into the season. Whether it was morning practices or long road trips, the girls’ basketball team was willing to do whatever it took to succeed. This unwavering commitment is shown in the bond the players have with each other, the genuine camaraderie, which is what allowed them to be so successful, especially in close games where everyone had to play their part in getting the win.

As the Scots look ahead to next season, the future remains bright. With a strong core of returning players and the momentum of this year’s success, Coach Brown and her team are sure to continue building on their winning tradition. The rising senior class and a talented group of underclassmen are already preparing to step into larger roles, eager to build on the foundation that this year’s seniors helped lay. Beyond the excitement for next year, this season should be a testament to what a team at Galloway is capable of doing. Through support in the community and among themselves, the girls' basketball team exceeded expectations flawlessly. While they didn’t go all the way in the state tournament, the loss will serve as a reminder next year of what it takes to be crowned champions, and with nothing but momentum, they have a good chance.

The most important aspect of the 2024-2025 season was that our players had fun and succeeded while doing so. Basketball is a great way to create memories, learn life lessons, and experience what it's like when hard work meets talent. This season will be remembered not just for the wins but for the pride it brought to our school. The Scots have set a new standard for their years of dominating, and with the same heart and determination, there’s no doubt they’ll be back and ready to go even further next year.
