Mallory Ward Profile

One of the most well-known members of the Galloway staff is Mallory Ward. Mallory grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and went to Galloway like us. When she was younger she wanted to end up doing something in sports, including sports management or sports business. She said the reason that didn't work out was because, “you need to be good at math to do sports business, and everyone knows I'm not good at math.” Even though she didn't think she would end up where she is now, she says this is her dream job and she loves where she is.

Mallory said that in high school she “loved the relationships at Galloway. Especially with the adults.” That is one of the reasons she came back to Galloway to work: “I wanted to give a similar experience to students now.” You may be wondering how and why Mallory came back to Atlanta and ended up working at the same high school she went to. The reason is, “I always loved Atlanta and I wasn't opposed to [coming back to work at Galloway]. Atlanta was just my comfort zone.”

Because Mallory went to Galloway for high school she was taught by a familiar face – Ms. McCrary. Ms. McCrary said Mallory as a student was “kind, funny and not good at math.” So the Mallory we know to be so fun and kind was also that way in high school. Mallory was also somewhat of a troublemaker in high school. “One time on a school trip I caught Mallory and her friends, who I did not like, moving furniture out of their hotel room,” said Ms. McCrary. Mallory went on a lot of trips with the school and most of them were with Ms. McCrary. Mallory said Ms.McCrary was one of her favorite teachers which made their bond strong and very funny. Ms. McCrary finished our interview with, “Mallory marched to the beat of her own drum.”

Next, I went to a man who works very close to Mallory, Clay Randel. Clay is our creative content director who is basically everywhere on campus. Clay first met Mallory, “in the spring of 2016. She was working in Galloway's Development Office and I was doing work for the Marketing and Communications Department.” Clay and Mallory have been working together for around eight years now, so he knows her pretty well. When I asked Clay what his favorite part of working with Mallory was he said, “My favorite part of working with Mallory is just how much fun she is to be around. It doesn't matter the project or assignment, if you are working with Mallory you are going to have fun and laugh.” While Mallory has a stressful job, it seems she is still able to have fun and brighten other people's days. We all know how amazing Mallory is as a “teacher” or staff member to us, but she seems like a great coworker too. “She has a gift when it comes to connecting with people,” Clay said.

Mallory is one of the best parts of Galloway. It's hard to imagine upper learning being the same without her. She said, “I thought coming back to work at Galloway would be a stop-gap, but then I fell in love with the school again and ended up staying. While the people were different their characteristics were the same.” Getting to know more about Mallory when she was a student and now as a colleague and friend is truly amazing. She is just a big part of this wonderful community.
