Galloway Team Update: 4/17-4/23

The Varsity Tennis team participated in the state first round of the playoffs. This match resulted in wins for both the boys and girls as Scots Nation prevailed. This showing of skill is what could take the tennis team even further into state!

In the week of 4/10-4/16, the spring season for many spring sports came to a close as Senior night was held on Friday last week.

The Varsity Track team has their final non regional meet at Lovett on April 12. Galloway’s track team has already made huge accomplishments throughout the season. Multiple school records have been broken and Galloway's long distance team has been very dominant in their meets. Adair Carlin ‘26 placed first overall in pole vaulting for the meet. The Scots kept up their high performance with Alex Lewis ‘23 placing twelfth in the 100 meter dash. Overall, the boys placed sixth out of eight teams and the girls placed seventh.

The Varsity Boys Soccer team played their final match of the season this Wednesday against Oglethorpe County. The boys early in the first half took a 1-0 lead. Unfortunately, the boys conceded two late goals which led to a tough loss in the state tournament. With their first state appearance in five years, the boys shocked the region and played their hearts out all season. Congratulations to all the players who gave it everything.

The Varsity Tennis team held a practice match this week. The boys team were only able to take one win in the five game match, losing 1-4. The girls match resulted in a 3-2 win for the Scots. With wins coming from Seniors, Lily Schweber and Rachel Graves.

The Varsity Boys Soccer team matched off against Mt. Pisgah Christian. This was following a three game win streak for the Scots, so the boys were feeling good. Captain Ellis Balser (‘23) scored 2 great goals, Nolan Alexander (‘24) matched this performance with 2 goals of his own in rapid succession, with this high level of play, Chris Ingram (‘25) managed to score his first goal of the season, he managed to follow that goal up with yet another goal, with two more goals from freshman Joshua Layton, and Ryan Hirsh (‘24). The Scots won big, forcing a forfeit, 8-0.

The Varsity Girls Soccer team also played a home game against Mt. Pisgah. The girls went into this game as underdogs looking to get a big win. That is exactly what the girls did. With the help of goals from both Abbey Feldstein (‘24) and Caroline Ingram (‘26), the girls won 2-1 against Mt. Pisgah. This puts them at 5-1 on the season.
