Eras Tour Review
Taylor Swift’s three-hour-long Eras Tour came to Atlanta this past weekend, and she was in screaming color. Throughout the show, Swift had sixteen quick changes, with outfits crafted by many renowned fashion houses– Oscar de la Renta, Versace, Christian Louboutin, Roberto Cavalli… well, you get the gist. All of her outfits drew inspiration from the past “eras” of her career, shown in the form of the aesthetics of her albums.
Taylor Swift has repeatedly discussed how much she cares about her fans and what they want. She even has gone online to see what songs they like, what they don’t like, and what they feel she could do more of. Swift has taken this feedback and input it into her plans, especially with her “surprise songs” on the tour.
At each concert, Taylor Swift has picked two songs from her discography to play in addition to her regular setlist. So far, she has performed songs from her debut album all the way to her most recent album, Midnights. I saw Swift perform four “surprise songs”: “The Other Side of the Door,” “Coney Island,” “I Bet You Think About Me,” and “How You Get the Girl.”
I went to the Friday and Sunday shows, and I was captivated by Swift’s talent and artistry throughout. As for the fans, there was a sea of glitter and sequins flooding into the stadium as soon as the doors opened. It was evident that there would be “glitter on the floor after the party.”
After the concert, it was mayhem. Masses waiting for Ubers, guys trying to sell knock-off Taylor Swift hoodies at every corner, and people encased in glitter sadly walking to their cars on the other side of town. I walked two miles in my bedazzled sneakers to get to where my car was parked and got home well past my bedtime, but it was worth it to get the chance to see Taylor Swift live. I’m impressed with the choreography, vocals, and experience that Swift has worked hard to create for the Eras Tour, which continues to raise the bar for other performers.
