Galloway Teams Update: Week 1/16-1/22

For the week of 1/16-1/22, leading up to homecoming, there were lots of hype matches!

The Varsity Boys Basketball Team started their week off with a competitive match against Gainesville. The boys ended up losing by three points 73-76. This loss was nothing short of a valiant performance, with 27 points coming from Amir Arrington (‘23). The next match was played at home Friday night, fighting against their rivals Mount Vernon for a homecoming weekend win. The boys ended up losing, 55-69, but Amir Arrington put up another great game, scoring 24 points this time.

The Varsity Girls Basketball Team only played one game this week but four of the starters made an appearance in the Faculty vs Students game. On Friday, the girls played Carver. This game turned into a blowout win, 83-47. This game was led by Tianna Thompson’s (‘24) with 17 points, Allison Hoffmann’s (‘23) with 15 points and Kyla Cain’s (‘23) with 14 points, the girls showed Galloway fans a great time!

The Galloway Swim Team showed the region the grit of the Scots with high levels of sportsmanship and dedication to the craft. The divers and swimmers alike all showed off the aqua scots to the fullest! Two relay teams were both less than a second away from qualifying for the state meet. With juggling Homecoming as well as the meet, the boys relay team held strong and competed in their race. Overall, the swim team did well and had a great season, congratulations! 

The Faculty Vs Students game displayed the best of the best. The teachers dominated the students on the court. With the final score being 34-23 in favor of the teachers, the game was fun to watch!
