Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 Review
Over the Summer, I was given a new phone. I upgraded from my Samsung Galaxy 10 to the new (at the time) Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3. After entering the new school year, I’ve received multiple comments on my phone, some ridiculing it and others expressing their amazement towards it.
Here are some of the comments I have heard:
“Is it broken?”
“How does the screen bend??”
“Isn’t the dent in your screen annoying?”
“Can you type on it like a computer?”
“How does the screen protector stay on?”
Though the last question is still a mystery to me, I’ve decided to do a review on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 to answer most of these questions.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 is a phone that (you guessed it) flips open by folding itself width side over. This feature is useful for easily powering on/off your phone and ending phone calls. I especially like the flip feature that ends phone calls. Imagine you’re having a bad day, instead of struggling to press the hang up button, you can simply close your phone (even slam the screen down) and end your call. You also don’t have to worry about damaging the screen when you close it down hard. There are stoppers that cushions your phone screen when it slams down preventing it from cracking.
On the front of the phone is a small dent that goes across the screen. On the back of the screen, there’s a hinge that allows the phone to open and close. Both of these features allow the phone to bend. The dent in the middle of the screen personally isn’t a hindrance when using the phone. When the phone is powered off, the dent is apparent, but when the phone is powered on, the dent isn’t noticeable.
Even though the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 can fold and technically be used as a mini computer, it isn’t practical to use it in such a way. The keys on the keyboard are too small to text regularly. However, viewing videos or reading articles are more practical. Instead of holding up your phone, the Z Flip 3 allows you to set the phone up on a surface and scroll instead. This is extremely useful in preventing dropping your phone on your face when you’re using it in bed.
My personal favorite feature is the camera. The Z Flip 3 allows you to take the most optimal group photos without someone having to take the photo for you. To take a group photo, all you have to do is set the camera on selfie mode, prop the phone on a surface, and have someone raise their hand. The camera is able to detect the raised hand and takes a photo without the button having to be pressed. This allows everyone to be included in the photo while having a better view of everyone.
The upsides for having a Z Flip 3 phone are convenient size, as it easily fits in your pocket, great screen protection, versatile photography, and more. Some downsides would be losing it easily in your bag in addition to the phone case slipping off from time to time. Overall, I’m happy with my phone and am enjoying all of the features that come with it. If you’re interested in getting a new phone, I would highly recommend the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3.
