Honors Day 2022
Honors day is a Galloway tradition, honoring those who have excelled in the academic, athletic, and all the areas in between throughout Galloway’s high school. Awards range from maths to the fine arts, with even recognition from outside parties. Starting the ceremony, those excelling in sports, drama, music, and spirit were all recognized for their hard work with the scholar awards. A further twenty-five awards were presented Friday afternoon, mainly going to the hard-working upperclassmen, as all their hard work throughout the year was finally recognized on the big stage.
Notable awards presented from the Galloway School were for excellence in citizenship, the Galloway Alumni Book award, and for excelling in the five core subjects of most students- math, science, social studies, English, and world language. Outside of school, the University of Georgia, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and National Merit competition recognized students who had excelled in their areas of expertise. Other Galloway awards that were presented to students, that you made need a refresher on are explained below:
Joe and Nora Richardson Award - Seniors that demonstrate a commitment to excellence and personal growth.
Dan Woolley Award - Seniors that show love for Galloway by deeds and kindness in spirit.
Wyatt Pasley Award - Seniors who practice an authentic love of the outdoors, concern for the environment, and an inspired love of learning.
“Service Above Self” Award - Seniors who exemplify the motto previously stated.
Linda Camp Award - Given to juniors and seniors who promoted harmony and understanding in the Galloway community.
Linda Martinson Award - Seniors who exhibit creativity and fearlessness in expressing it.
Beth Faroki Award - Seniors who show a serious commitment to the education and empowerment of younger people and an active understanding of Elliot Galloway’s philosophical legacy.
Elliot Galloway Alumni Book Award - Seniors who exemplify the ideals of Elliot Galloway: kindness, decency, seeing the potential in others, and commitment to academic progress and physical fitness.
