My All-Time Favorite Podcasts
Podcasts are by far one of my favorite media outlets. I’m very picky when it comes to them, but these podcasts are my top picks. I mostly listen to podcasts whenever I’m cleaning or doing yoga.
#1: Binchtopia
One of our student editors actually showed me this podcast. I’ve listened to many different varieties of podcasts throughout the years, but this is by far my favorite. Julia Hava and Eliza McLamb are the hosts, and they blend comedy and serious topics beautifully. A few days ago, I listened to “Freud Shrieking From the Grave”. This episode covered the topics of “Boy Moms,” Freudian psychology, Damascus goats, and enmeshment—all in 80 minutes. I understood the topic of “Boy Moms” before listening, but this deep-dived into the psychology and theories of how to deal with enmeshment. I am not great at focusing on podcasts, but these types of episodes have me by a chokehold. They go through many different topics, but they strategically blend together perfectly. After Binchtopia, I doubt I will ever go back to political podcasts.
#2: Sweet Release
Sweet Release is a relatively new podcast, with only eight episodes out. “Sotce” (internet name) and Mercurial Sarah are the two hosts. If you know me, you know that I love Sotce’s internet platform. She is mostly famous on TikTok, for her posts about her experiences in religion. If anything, I was overjoyed when I heard she was making a podcast. By far, Sweet Release is my favorite spiritual podcast. They give advice, talk about experiences with their spiritual journeys, and how to unravel emotional discomfort. Their voices are so soothing, and this podcast is perfect to listen to while cleaning or taking a bubble bath.
#3: Murder, Mystery, & Makeup
I’m a sucker for true crime, and Bailey Sarian is the best of the best when it comes to keeping listeners hooked. Her description of the cases is respectful to the victims’ families but doesn’t sugarcoat anything. That’s precisely why she has such a large fanbase. Bailey’s personality also seeps into the podcast, and she deals with difficult situations beautifully.
Some honorable mentions would be Crime Salad, another true-crime podcast, and What The Finance, a digestible finance podcast.
