5 Underrated Songs For Your Summer Playlist

I assume we can all agree that the summer of 2021 is something we all want to experience. Since last summer was such a disappointment, we must ensure that this year's summer is one to remember. Everyone knows that having a good playlist is essential to having a great summer. So, to keep things interesting, I've compiled a list of 5 underrated songs that should definitely be on your summer playlist.

5.  B.O.M.O (Better On My Own) - Tatiana Manaois

This song is perfect if you want to add some female empowerment anthems to your summer playlist. B.O.M.O is a fantastic song composed by Tatiana Manaois. The song is incredibly catchy, and the lyrics will undoubtedly improve your self-esteem. Because of the song's heavy radiance of self-love and freedom, it's the ideal backtrack for when you're driving alone on a beautiful day.

4.  Still The One - One Direction

I believe we can all agree that One Direction has made a big comeback this year. Regardless of their breakup in 2015, I believe we can all accept that their music will never go out of style. Popular songs like "What Makes You Beautiful" and "Story of My Life" are staples of the group's legendary music career, but there are a handful of others that go unnoticed. “Still The One” is one of these tracks. You've probably heard this song before, but it doesn't get as much mainstream attention as some of the others. The song is featured on the album “Take Me Home” which was released in 2012. Since “Still The One” shares an album with songs like “Kiss You,” “Little Things,” “Summer Love” it is definitely overlooked. The song is incredibly catchy, and the enthusiasm it creates is contagious, making it ideal for a summer playlist.

3.  Almost There - The Princess and The Frog Soundtrack

At least one Disney song is needed on any successful summer playlist. One of the best Disney movies is The Princess and the Frog. Not only is the film underrated, but the soundtrack is also undervalued. The song "Almost There" is one of the best on the soundtrack. Since it is a jazz record, the instrumentation is highly varied, but the song is overall fantastic. Princess Tianna's vocals are incredibly strong, giving the song a unique energy that makes it fun to sing along to. As a result, this song is ideal for a playlist.

2. Desperado - Rihanna

Desperado is a fantastic song. Yes, it is well-known, but it does not receive the attention it deserves. Rihanna has a lot of hits because she is one of the biggest singers in the industry, but many of her songs never get the opportunity to shine. Desperado is on her most recent and well-known album, "Anti," but songs like "Love on the Brain" and "Work" outshine the rest of the album. Desperado is a great song to sing along to, and it's just what you need on your summer playlist.

1. BALENCIES - Chika

If you're unfamiliar with Chika, she's an up-and-coming rapper whose songs are known for their powerful instrumentals. Chika is still relatively unknown, but she has begun to gain traction after being nominated for the Grammy Award for "Best New Artist" in 2021. Her songs are all underappreciated, but especially her song "BALENCIES." This song is a masterpiece. The instrumental showcases her ability to flow beautifully, and the bass emphasizes her ability to execute bars flawlessly. Her lyrics can come off as aggressive because she raps about her past life, but her cool and collected voice acts as a stabilizer, making the song incredible. This song belongs on your summer playlist, and I highly recommend checking out more of Chika's work because it is consistently amazing.

These are only a few examples of underappreciated music; bear in mind that there are millions of other songs and artists who deserve much more recognition. Hopefully, you will not only listen to some of the classics, but will also feel free to play and push the musical limits because there are so many great songs that have yet to be discovered.
