Steph Curry Breaks All Time NBA 3-Pointer Record

On December 14, 2021, Stephen Curry, a player widely considered to be the greatest three point shooter of all time and one of the greatest basketball players in the last decade, made history by breaking hall of famer Ray Allen’s record for the most three pointers made in a career during a road game against the New York Knicks. Stephen Curry’s three-point count now sits at 2974, and it looks to only grow in the coming years. This record was something that had been tracked by media analysts for quite some time now, and the moment that Curry was going to break the record was highly anticipated. Even Steph Curry stated that the record was something that was on his mind for a while now, admitting that even he had “been thinking about that number for a while.” As a result, both Ray Allen and Reggie Miller, the now 2nd and 3rd leaders in all-time three pointers made respectively, were both at Madison Square Garden in New York City to formally congratulate Curry in a small celebration after the game.

It took Ray Allen 15 total years to break Reggie Miller’s record for the most three-pointers made in an NBA career, and it took him three more years and a total 1,300 games to cement his final count of 2,973 three point baskets made in a career.

It took Stephen Curry just 789 games to break that record.
