BREAKING: Trump Facing Possible Second Impeachment
On Wednesday, January 6th, chaos arose when pro-Trump rioters stormed the capitol building in an attempt to block the certification of Joe Biden’s victory in the Presidential election. The violent uprising left four people dead and many more injured as senators and the Vice President were forced to evacuate and be ushered to safety. In the aftermath of this unprecedented assault on the nation’s Capitol, Democrats plan to impeach President Trump a second time, charging him with “incitement of insurrection” for his role in the violence at the capitol. If the house votes to impeach President Trump, he would become the first President to be impeached twice. As of January 11th, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has stated that if Vice President Pence does not invoke the 25th amendment, which would declare the President unfit to serve the rest of his term, the House Democrats will proceed with an impeachment vote. Calls for Trump’s resignation are becoming increasingly intense, with a growing number of Republicans stating that they want Trump out of office before Biden’s inauguration on January 20th.
House Democrats plan to file an article of impeachment against the President that highlights his false claims that he won the election along with his incendiary comments to the crowd that later stormed the Capitol. Additionally, the article points to a phone call that Trump had with Georgia’s secretary of State in which the President urged him to “find” enough votes to alter the outcome of the Presidential election in Georgia. The Article of Impeachment drafted by house democrats states that “President Trump gravely endangered the security of the United States and its institutions of Government. He threatened the integrity of the democratic system, interfered with the peaceful transition of power, and imperiled a coequal branch of Government. He thereby betrayed his trust as President, to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.” The House is set to vote on the article on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, January 12th, the House of Representatives voted to call on the Vice President to invoke the 25th amendment. Since the Vice President rejected this measure, the House will proceed to vote on his impeachment today. In light of the upcoming vote, the FBI has sent a warning to law enforcement agencies around the country about the possibility of armed protests at all 50 state Capitol buildings. Additionally, the FBI has warned us of another possible riot in Washington D.C. if Congress votes to impeach the President.
Trump’s final days as president have been some of the most turbulent days in all of his presidency. He will leave the White House with very few allies, an official ban from Twitter and other forms of social media, and a possible second impeachment effort against him. We can expect the next few days to be full of chaos following the vote from the House of Representatives.
