Harry Styles’ Fine Line Album Review
I have not listened to Harry Styles since One Direction broke up; I’ve never been a big styler (what his fans call themselves). When the Fine Line album was released on December 13, that completely changed. For a few weeks now, it is constantly playing on repeat wherever I go. The album contains 12 songs, sparking a range of emotions. There is a balance of upbeat, positive songs along with slower, sad ones which makes the album very strong and unique. Moreover, Fine Line is comprised of honest and deep lyrics that many people can relate to. Below is a list of songs from the album that I like the most, in no particular order.
Lights up
This is my absolute favorite song right now. After hearing it for the first time at my friend’s house, I got home and listened to it over and over again. It has a very uplifting beat that lights up the mood. I love to listen to this song in the morning to start off my day or in the car coming home from school.
Falling
This is one of the sadder songs of the album that feels more personal than the others. He mentioned in an interview that the song took him less than 20 minutes to write, which was very interesting to me. Harry’s motivation for this song has to do with how he was worried that his personality was changing. He admits that he is ‘falling’ down; he is falling away from his conscience, beliefs, and identity. Moreover, some people think this song is about his ex-girlfriend. I would listen to this song on a rainy or dreary day.
Golden
This is the opening song of the album. It starts the album off very strong and positive. It is the perfect song to blast on a sunny summer day. It is filled with joy and upbeat drumming, guitaring, and harmonizing.
Adore you
This song is upbeat and has a similar rhythm to “lights up.” It is a very positive and groovy song about love and friendship in its many forms. The music video for this song is unlike any other; I did not expect it at all. It is about Harry Styles becoming best friends with a fish, who is different and can’t find its place. Moreover, the song is about unity and how it is important to accept everyone. If you have a chance, you should definitely watch the unique music video for this song.
She
I love the beat and lyrics of this song. He is describing his ideal partner and narrates what he thinks is a perfect relationship. This song seems less personal than “Falling” but is more meaningful than “Golden.”
I cannot choose a single song on this album that I dislike. Each song has a message or a story and displays Harry Styles’ incredible talent. You should go and listen to it if you have time or are looking for new music!
