Jake Bogartz: Time to Shine
Siblings at Galloway have always been known around campus. If you have a sibling here, chances are most people know about you. One of the more pronounced sibling pairs at the Galloway School are sophomore Jake Bogartz and his brother Nick who is now a Galloway alum. Nick Bogartz was the star of the baseball team for four solid years and after sporting a GPA of “4.0 ish, maybe a little higher,” he went on to attend the University of Georgia. While Nick achieves such high milestones, Jake describes his best attribute to be “the brother of Nick Bogartz”. This attribute changes today.
I recently sat down with Jake to ask him a few questions about life with and without a sibling at Galloway.
Q: What’s the biggest difference with having Nick at Galloway versus not having him here?
A: The quality edits on my Elliott Mag articles.
Q: What is the best part of having an older brother go through Galloway before you?
A: All the teachers know me before I enter their classes.
Q: I know Nick used to drive you home, what’s the driving scene look like now?
A: Usually, I’ll ride home with my parents or other students who live by me but, I’ll be rolling in the Prius later this month.
Q: I know you don’t play baseball like Nick, but you do play tennis, how's that going?
A: I basically carry the tennis team with my bench warming skills.
Q: I see you rocking the New Balances, what percent of your wardrobe is from Nick?
A: I’d say about a quarter of my shirts come from Nick or his friends.
Q: What do you miss most and least about him?
A: I miss the road rage least, the Elliott Town Hall announcements most.
Q: In 3 words, describe your high school experience without Nick?
A: Slightly less good.
While Jake is and always will be a respected student at Galloway, Nick is the closest thing to a legend. This is obviously shown in the way Jake elegantly describes his profound brother. While Nick is a Freshman at the University of Georgia, Jake is just beginning to try to fill his shoes as a Galloway legend. Nothing says status at the Galloway School like the Bogartz Prius and soon, a young Jake Bogartz will sit behind that wheel.
