Does Taylor Swift's New Video Hint Towards a Potential Collaboration?

At midnight on April 26, Taylor Swift returned with a new single entitled “Me!” The song features Brendon Urie of Panic! At The Disco, many butterflies, and a pastel aesthetic that is super uplifting. The beginning of the video shows a white snake, which then explodes into a butterfly. Swift’s last album was very dark for her and featured a ton of snakes, so this is a nice, pleasant change of pace. Prior to releasing the single, Swift said there had been hints on her Instagram for a month or so as to what the single would be and what the video would entail. Do we think the rest of the album will follow this enigmatic pattern?

Some people have come up with a theory that I personally find very exciting. In her music video for “Me!” Swift features a bunch of paintings of animals on the set’s walls. One picture that she highlighted on her Instagram story was one of some chicks. Now, the rumor is that this is a hint towards a potential collaboration with the Dixie Chicks.

Back in the peak of their popularity, the Dixie Chicks faced a lot of scrutiny for not supporting the election of President Bush. They received death threats and even had to cancel parts of their tour. As a result they released various songs including “Not Ready to Make Nice” as their way of saying they would not be silenced. Though a lot of big figures in country music specifically were publically against them, the rest of the music community was actually very supportive. Just a little background...Now back to Taylor.

Last month in an interview, Swift stated that she was a big fan of the Dixie Chicks last month to Elle UK. Fans now believe that since the Dixie Chicks are back in the studio, it could potentially be with Taylor. Finally, the hint that could have given away the most was a Twitter thread between the band’s official account and Swift:

I personally find this gossip incredibly exciting and hope that it is true. I’m a longtime lover of the Dixie Chicks and think they deserve a surge back into the spotlight. Hopefully, the rumors are true and there will be a Swift/Chicks collaboration on the way!
