Beyoncé Saves the World...Again

She did it. Queen Bey struck again to save us all. This time, in cinematic form. On April 8, Beyoncé announced that she would be releasing a documentary entitled “Homecoming” that will highlight her iconic Coachella performance in 2018. Her performance, which had been nicknamed “Beychella” will be the focal point of the film and will highlight all the rehearsals and other preparations that went into her performance.

According to Netflix, the movie will show the “emotional road” leading up to the show. It is said to be released on April 17, the anniversary of Beyoncé’s Coachella performance. It is expected to be almost two-hours long and will include features from other musicians who supported her performance.

While on stage at Coachella, Beyoncé thanked the audience “for allowing [her] to be the first black woman to headline Coachella.” Originally she was scheduled to headline in 2017, but had to push it back because she was pregnant with her twins Rumi and Sir (who are also featured in the film). Additionally, the film will show intimate moments with her family, including husband Jay-Z and now 7-year-old daughter Blue Ivy.

The trailer features a haunting voice over from the late poet Maya Angelou saying, “What I really wanted to do is be a representative of my race – the human race.” Needless to say, I have never been more excited for a film in my life. Beyoncé, we salute you for returning again to save us all. Thank you.
