What to Expect from The Upcoming NBA Season

The NBA season is about to kick off and oh boy, am I excited. Due to everything that has happened in the offseason, I believe it is going to be a great season full of exciting games. After the finals, the 2019 NBA draft occurred, and Zion Williamson, the projected number 1 pick, was indeed picked first, drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans. His friend and teammate R.J. Barrett followed right behind him, being picked second overall by the New York Knicks. Williamson is a player everyone is excited to watch. His athleticism is out of this world. Standing at 6’7” and weighing in at 284 pounds, this kid has something special. On top of the hype around the draft, there are many other exciting things to look forward to this upcoming season, such as the anticipation of the LA Lakers and LA Clippers.

The Lakers acquired Anthony Davis during the offseason and he is teaming up with Lebron James. They also have other players joining their club such as Danny Green and Demarcus Cousins. This squad definitely puts them in the conversation surrounding the 2020 NBA finals. The Clippers acquired Paul George, an amazing small forward coming from the Oklahoma City Thunder, who is teaming up with Kawhi Leonard, the 2019 NBA finals MVP.

Another big topic is that it might be the end of the Warriors era. Klay Thompson is out for most of the season and Kevin Durant left to go to the Brooklyn Nets with Kyrie Irving. Then, coming from the Nets is D'angelo Russell, who is going to the Warriors. The free agent part of the offseason was absolutely crazy. A lot of changes occurred that will definitely alter the NBA.

In my opinion, I believe the 2020 NBA finals will consist of the Philadelphia 76ers and the LA Clippers, with the Clippers ultimately winning the championship. Although this is a very bold and early statement, I think that with two of the best players in the league on The Clippers, along with their amazing coach Patrick Beverly, this team will come out on top.

All of this gives me strong reason to believe this season will be the best we have seen in many years, with new rookies coming in and so many all-stars going to different teams. The teams are now more balanced and the games will be more fun to watch.

There were so many teams that were disappointing last year that are going to be playoff competitors this year, such as the Hawks, the Heat, and the Pelicans. I can't wait to start watching.
