Outfits for Music Midtown
Music Midtown is around the corner. The music festival takes place annually in Piedmont Park, this year on September 15th-16th. It features a variety of artists, ranging throughout the different genres of music.
Picking out an outfit for a music festival can be difficult. The outfit needs to be chosen according to weather, style, and how comfortable it will be. Music Midtown takes place in the blistering heat of mid-September, which is not the ideal time for an outdoor music festival. It can be hard to pick out an outfit that’s unique and incorporates personal style, while still loosely following the trends.
This year will be my fourth attending Music Midtown. The outfits I’ve worn to Music Midtown in the past have been simple with basically nothing special about them. I have stuck to the pattern of wearing denim shorts and a plain top or tank top, but this year I’m hoping to switch up the look or at least add some accessories.
The people who attend Music Midtown wear diverse outfits. Some people wear simple outfits like I have in the past, but some wear stylish outfits that look almost impossible to replicate. I’ve seen some very cute outfits at Music Midtown, and they seem to draw inspiration from the music festival vibe.
A good place to look for outfit inspiration is pinterest, or even google. Searching for music festival outfit ideas on pinterest is perfect because there are so many pictures from music festivals around the country/world, like Coachella. Getting inspiration is important, so looking through other people’s outfits to determine what you like and what you don’t is essential to putting together a perfect outfit.
If you’re like me and like to keep outfits simple, at least accessorize! For example, if the outfit is a black tank top with denim shorts and vans or converse, add a belt. Adding a belt pulls together the look. Another way to accessorize is to wear color-coded jewelry (all gold or all silver - try not to mix metals). Adding a statement piece of jewelry always draws attention to your outfit and makes it look more put together. Adding a bandana, sunglasses, a hat, glitter, or bold makeup can also make the look stand out.
An outfit idea I’ve seen a lot in recent years is wearing a light dress, normally with spaghetti straps, over a plain tee/top. This trend channels the nineties, and is different from what everyone else will most likely be wearing. Wearing a graphic tee with a simple skirt is also a timeless look that is perfect for music festivals.
When selecting an outfit, I have a few things to consider.
Tip 1: Don’t plan your outfit around your backpack or purse before reading the bag guidelines online. There are specific rules for what you can and cannot bring in, so keep this in mind.
Tip 2: Don’t wear long sleeve shirts or long pants because believe me, you will get hot and want to leave.
Tip 3: Prioritize wearing a comfortable outfit. Keep in mind that you will have to stand outside in the heat for hours. It’s worth it to wear something comfortable.
Honestly, the best advice I can give for choosing an outfit is to wear something that is your own style. Just wear what’s comfortable for you and don’t worry about what everyone else is wearing. Have fun at Music Midtown!
