The Hit Show Friends IS Staying On Netflix!
You may or may not have heard, but Netflix is not taking Friends off its website in the US. The beloved show first aired in 1994, and it has been a hit classic comedy since.
The show was nominated for 62 Emmys throughout its time on air. Friends most watched episode was season two’s “The One After the Superbowl” with over 52 million viewers. Their series finale is the most watched episode of the 2000’s.
While the show is safe now, Netflix originally said they were going to remove it at the end of 2018. After fans found out the show was being taken off, though, their reactions went as expected. Eleventh grader Caroline Parrish said “I’m so disappointed that Netflix keeps taking off shows that people obviously watch.” Many fans were so disappointed that the hit show was being removed that some people started a petition to get it back on Netflix. Before ending the petition, it reached over 7,000 signatures. Then Netflix came out saying that in the US Friends will be staying on for now. It is not sure what day the show will be taken down.
Netflix has paid $100 million to keep the show streaming on the website. When it will be taken off has not been released to the public yet, but I am excited to keep watching my favorite show.
