Holiday Movies to Get Anyone in the Spirit
With Christmas right around the corner, it is absolutely necessary to get in the holiday spirit and what better way than with some Christmas classics. The first classic is one you're most likely familiar with: it is a movie called Elf. Elf is about a human named Buddy accidentally raised in the North Pole with Santa's elves. As Buddy grows up, he senses that he isn't quite like the other elves, so he travels to New York in search of his father who is a children’s book author. At first, his father doesn't believe him but with results from DNA its confirmed. From there, they attempt to overcome their differences and form a relationship together.
Next on the list is the live action How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This Christmas film based off a story written by Dr. Seuss is about a hermit-like creature named the Grinch who cannot stand Christmas and every one of the Whos that participate. In order to stop the celebration of Christmas, the Grinch descends from is mountaintop and poses as the beloved Santa to rob everyone of the holiday spirit. However, he runs into some complications when he encounters a certain little Whoville girl.
Finally on the must-watch list is yet another very familiar title: Disney’s A Christmas Tale. This Disney adaptation of Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol is definitely special. The animation quality is astounding, and the characters are so interesting and lifelike. The story takes place on Christmas Eve in London, England, and everyone is full of anticipation waiting for the holiday. All except one man named Ebenezer Scrooge, the penny-pinching humbug. That same night Scrooge encounters the spirit of his business partner who warns him of three more ghosts that will visit him. Those ghosts then take him through the past, present, and future in hope of warming his bitter heart.
I hope these movies won't go unwatched this year, and have a happy holidays!
