WRLD on Drugs

Future and Juice Wrld’s WRLD on Drugs is one of the most positively unexpected collabs this year.  The album consists of 16 tracks featuring Yung Bans, Young Thug, Young Scooter, Lil Wayne, Gunna, and Nicki Minaj. When first hearing this, many would expect for the album to be full of hits waiting to be overplayed on radios nationwide, but not every song is worthy of such press.

Most songs on the album are fitted to the newer artist Juice Wrld’s style, which is very similar to Lil Uzi Vert (another modern rapper). Juice Wrld is well known for his most popular song “Lucid Dreams” from his breakout album Goodbye and Good Riddance. Future, on the other hand, is a more established artist who has three certified platinum albums and is constantly topping the music charts. He has also worked with other established artists such as Drake, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, 2 Chainz, etc. Future’s voice and style are noticeably different than Juice Wrld’s . He has a low raspy voice used to make hard-hitting  trap music, while Juice Wrld ’s higher and smoother voice better fits alternative rap. Because of this, Future’s voice comes off as awkward in certain tracks, and Juice Wrld’s voice becomes repetitive and annoying.

Despite their differences, the album has great potential to blow up. There are songs with great catchy beats and lyrics to match. My personal favorites are “Jet Lag”, “Red Bentley”,  and “Different”. But don't take my word for it, listen to WRLD on Drugs and decide which songs resonate with you.
