Annie's Adventures in Food Reviews

I recently had the opportunity to ask Annie Levy some questions about her food Instagram, annie’s__eats.  Annie runs an instagram page dedicated to her favorite gluten-free recipes and restaurants. You may think being gluten free limits what type of food she can eat and post about on instagram; however, she says the only food group that she has to be careful about is carbs because most of them have gluten. Since April of last year, Annie has been running her page to answer the question,”What do you eat if you can’t eat gluten?” In 4th grade Annie discovered she had celiac disease, which makes it so when she eats gluten she gets very sick. She says her reaction to gluten is not like a peanut allergy where someone could go into anaphylactic shock, but gluten will weaken her immune system, which increases the chance of much worse diseases such as cancer.

Annie’s favorite dish has been the fried chicken at Busboys and Poets in Washington, D.C. This was the first gluten-free fried chicken Annie has had, as usually the flour used in breading the chicken has gluten. Annie's favorite parts about running her instagram are finding new places to try and planning what she will post. Besides the planning, she likes when restaurants or brands she posts about comment on or like her posts.
